Room of Quiet
The Mediation Room in the public access area of the main NY Headquarters building was redesigned by the 2nd UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold in 1957. Also referred to as the “Room of Quiet” where “only thoughts should speak. “. Used by delegates, staff and others for moments of reflective silence thorough the day.. Secretaries-General often begin their term of office by visiting this room. Heads of State or Government have also visited before important speeches.
