U.N. AND N.Y. UNITED AT SRI CHINMOY’ S PEACE CONCERT

A Tribute to the Fortieth Anniversary of 1tle United Nations Performed by Sri Chinmoy

(NEW YORK)  October 25 ••• On October 28 at 8 PM, New Yorkers will gather with U.N. diplomats and staff at THE PEACE CONCERT -a musical invocation of peace featuring Sri Chinmoy at Avery Fisher Hall. The free event is a gift to the people of New York and the U.N. community in honor of the United Nations 40th anniversary.

Sri Chinmoy will be performing his original compositions on flute, cello, Indian esraj and harmonium. The spiritual Master has been leading twice weekly meditations at the United Nations since 1970.

Among the 2,100 ticket holders are over 40 U.N. diplomats and 300 U.N. staff members, as well as distinguished individuals from all walks of life. The Lincoln Center concert is one of two free Peace Concerts scheduled on consecutive nights. Because of overwhelming demand for seats at the October 28 concert, a second concert has been scheduled for ‘Tuesday, October 29, 8 PM at the Beacon Theatre. Free tickets to this concert may be obtained at the Beacon Theatre box office on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Peace Concerts are part of a series of 100 such concerts which Sri Chinmoy has been offering-throughout the world during the past 18 months. Drawing capacity crowds in some of the world’s finest houses -such as the Royal Albert Hall in London -these concerts offer the peace of meditation through music. According to Sri Chinmoy,”-Meditation and soulful music cannot be separated. When we play soulful music, psychic music, then immediately we are transported to the highest realm of consciousness.’

Sri Chinmoy’s music expresses the inner cry for peace from which the United Nations was born. His music is one of the finest contemporary examples of the great tradition of devotional music music which enters the heart and inspires ana uplifts the spirit.

In addition .to musical selections, Sri Chinmoy will be offering brief, silent meditations at the beginning of the concert and between performances of different instruments. TO further inspire the audience, one of his paintings
will be displayed on stage during the performance. At intermission, the audience may view an exhibition of Sri Chinmoy’s art, part of· his highly respected “Jharna-Kala” collection.

The Peace Concert is being sponsored in cooperation with Sri Chinmoy; The Peace Meditation at the United Nations.

THE PEACE CONCERT

The Peace Concert by Sri Chinmoy, held at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall on 28 October, brought UN staff, delegates and the people of New York together

in a musical invocation of peace. Sri Chinmoy played his own compositions on the flute, harmonium, Indian esraj and other instruments in celebration of the 40th Anniversary.

The 40th Anniversary Peace Concert was a highlight of over 100 peace concerts he is giving worldwide.

Because of the great demand for tickets, a second concert was given 29 October at the Beacon Theater in NYC.
