To The Peace Meditation at the UN
New York, N.Y.
Dear Friends,
When I heard that you are celebrating the Meditation Group’s 30th Anniversary at the
United Nations on 18 April 2000 my first response was that I wanted to be associated with
this celebratory Peace Concert. Because of personal and professional obligations I am
unable to be in New York to participate with you in person but I am writing to let you
know I am there in spirit.
It has long been my pleasure to attend many meaningful and fruitful programmes
sponsored by Sri Chinmoy and the Meditation Group. I believe in the need for a persistent
search for peace and justice. We do well to meditate on the goals of the United Nations. It
is a significant milestone for the United Nations and for my friends there in New York to
recognize that we have, under the inspiration of our dear Friend Sri Chinmoy, been
carrying the inner message of peace through meditation for many years.
Over the years I have been fortunate to attend many of Sri Chinmoy’s concerts that have
created for me an atmosphere of peace and inspiration. The experiences of those songs and
the uplifting feelings of hope and the spirit of renewal of the meditations there in the
United Nations Headquarters still remain with mc.
I would like to extend my sincere best wishes to my dear friend Sri Chinmoy and to those
gathered at this event. The world needs peace more than anything else. It is a significant
task that you have undertaken and it must persist.
Cordially,
(Signed)
Jorge E. Illueca
