BANGLADESH DIPLOMAT GETS U Thant AWARD at the UNITED NATIONS –
The UN Ambassador from Bangladesh, ANWARUL KARIM CHOWDHURY, received the U Thant Peace Award Nov. 23 during a Peace Concert at the UN’s Dag Hammarskjold Auditorium.
In presenting Anwarul Karim Chowdhury the Award on behalf of The Peace Meditation at the United Nations, Sri Chinmoy said,:
“The world-peace-dreamers, world-peace lovers and world-peace-servers shall treasure your unique offering to the world at large.”
Sri Chinmoy dedicated the Concert, performed before an overflow audience of diplomats and UN staff members, to the “all-illumining and all serving soul of our beloved Bangladesh, my golden Bengal.” Sri Chinmoy was born in East Bengal, then a part of India, in 1931.
