Sri Chinmoy offered a moment of silence for peace at the opening ceremony of the 20th annual International Friendship Run, held at the UN for 10,000 international runners, in conjunction with the NYC Marathon

It featured welcoming remarks by Secretary-General Kofi Annan  –  31 October 1998

Many Members of the Peace Meditation at the UN were in attendance.

Private presentation to Mr. Kofi Annan by Sri Chinmoy of his song dedicated to the Secretary-General, which was then performed by the Peace Meditation Choir  – 31 October
