Coretta Scott King and Sri Chinmoy share Harmony Award 1994 Oct 28 in NY

On October 28th, 1994 both Sri Chinmoy and Mrs. King were honoured with the Gandhi Award by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, USA. Both were praised for their contributions to peace in our world. The presentation took place in New York.

Mrs King and Sri Chinmoy had previously met at the United nations in 1977. A that time Mrs. Scott King joined a host of diplomats at the United Nations
in paying homage to her late husband on the 10th anniversary
of his assassination, November 29th, 1977.

Sri Chinmoy, Leader of the Peace Meditation Group at the UN which sponsored the 1977 programme, opened the ceremony with a short meditation. He had also composed three songs about Martin Luther King which the Meditation Group sang. To Mrs. King, Sri Chinmoy said, “in you I see the living presence of our beloved brother.”
