Meeting with USG Department of Public Information 14 Feb 1989

Sri Chinmoy and some members of the Peace Meditation Group he leads met with the UN Under-Secretary-General  for Public Information, Thérèse Paquet-Sévigny,* on February 02 1989.

They discussed many activities of the UN and the Meditation group support for the Highest Goals of the world Organization.

Information was shared on the various Peace Walks undertaken for June 26th, Signing of the UN Charter, Opening of the UN General Assembly in September, and UN Day in October each year. Media coverage was also shared of members of the Meditation group “Swims for Peace” in 36 locations during the 1986 Internal Yer of Peace and a solo swim across the English Channel in Honour of the UN 40th Anniversary, which was mentioned the NY Times.

A Plaque was also presented by Sri Chinmoy in honour of the Secretary-General
