3 February        -Press conference for the “Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run”
20 February         -Meeting with Andy Bostinto, champion weightlifter and physical fitness proponent
7 March              ~The America Concert” held at the Manhattan School of Music, consisting of choral and orchestral arrangements of Sri Chinmoy’s Music, with members of the U.N. community as special guests
13 March            -Musical tribute to India at U.N. headquarters, with the Honourable P. A. Nazareth, Consul General of India, as special guest

7 April                 -Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence Award presented to veteran champion swimmer, Jack Keefe
14 April               -Special meditation to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the Peace Meditation at the United Nations
27 April               -Opening ceremony of the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, with U.N. Ambassadors and special guests Mokshagun Clarence Clemons, Narada Michae1 Walden and Carly Simon, held at the World Trade Center in New York
27April                  -Meeting with peace advocate and popular singer, Carly Simon
29 April                  -Ceremony for the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run held at the Capitol building, Washington, D.C., attended by members of the diplomatic corps, the U.S. Department of Recreation and AFS Intercultural Programs
4 May                   -Special programme in honour of UNDP
13 May                  -Classical recital by Meditation Group member Pramoda France ¥dcher, as a farewell to the U.N. after 40 years of service to the Organisation
14 May                  -Viewing at U.N. headquarters of film on the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, produced by AFS lnternational programs and later broadcast by some 250 PBS stations nationwide
29 May                    -Inauguration of the Sri Chinmoy Peace Mile in Oxford, England and meeting with United Nations Association officials
29 and 31 May     -One-mile peace runs for the U.N. community at New York headquarters
30 May                    -Inauguration by Sri Chinmoy of a Peace Garden in Ipswich, England
25 and 26 June     -Peace Walk for United Nations Charter Day
7J June                     -Sri Chinmoy invited as guest speaker at the opening ceremonies of first U. S. National Senior Olympics in St. Louis
l2 July                      ~’Peace Run for the United Nations”, I8-mile commemorative relay run from the site of the first U.N . headquarters in Lake Success, Long Island, to New York headquarters
18 July                           -Festival inspired by Sri Chinmoy’s philosophy of peace held on the grounds of the Washington Monument, Washington, D.C.
July                                 -Concert for staff members of the Center for Transnational Corporations
July                                -Concert for staff members of the Department of Technical Co-operation for Development
July                                -Concert for staff members of UNICEF
8 August                       -Final ceremony of the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, with U.N. Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, held in the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza
16 August                     -Participation in celebration of India’s 40th Year of Independence, with Sri Chinmoy invited as a special guest in the India Day Parade and following ceremonies
14 September                -Concert and reception for the staff of the Publications Service, Department of Public Information
15 September                -7-mile Peace Walk for the United Nations International Day of Peace, held in conjunction with Peace Walks in over 50 cities around the world
15 September                 -Prayer breakfast for the International Day of Peace and the opening of the 42nd session of the General Assembly
2 October                         -Participation in a commemorative march and ceremony in honour of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday
