23 May              -The Meditation Group was invited to join with the U.S. National Parks Service in a reception and tree planting ceremony at the National Vi ‘itors’ Center, in honour of IYC
23 May             -Start of two-month exhibit of Sri Chinmoy’s painting dedicated to the IYC, sponsored by the Parks Service, in the National Visitors’ Center in Washington, D.C.
31 May            -Programme to congratulate Ambassador Zenon Rossides of Cyprus on his appointment as chairman of the U.N. Disarmament Conference

16 November     -Special emergency prayer and meditation service for the Iranian hostage crisis, in conjunction with the International Day of Thanksgiving
10 December       -Salim Abmed Salim, President of the General Assembly, received the Peace Meditation group’s Human Rights Award
