 1. Plaque for  International Year of the Child placed in President ‘s Park in Washington, D.C.

On 4 October 1979 the United States National Park Service and Sri Chinmoy Meditation at the United Nations dedicated a plaque to the International Year of the Child. which was placed in President ‘s Park in Washington, D.C.

On the plaque is a quote from Secretary of the Interior Cecil D. Andrus, “Caring for children means caring for the natural world they will inherit.” plus Sri Chinmov’s song dedicated to IYC.

2.  MEDITATION GARDEN IN HONOUR OF IYC

A small. sunny area of ten-acre Blake Gardens. Property of the University of California. Berkeley. was dedicated 1 June 1979 as a “Meditation Garden” in honour of the International Year of the Child. Sri Chinmoy inaugurated the area with a meditation preceded by the singing of “This Is My Year.” A bench will be placed in the area facing the plaque on which the words to the song are
engraved.
